Julia is an artist living on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Originally from the North East of England, and studying and working in fashion/textiles, in London, Julia came to Australia in 1986. After studying Fine Art at Northern Beaches Tafe and becoming a member of the Warringah Printmakers Studio, she has been working and exhibiting her work in print, drawing and painting, and more recently sculpture.
This latest work from Julia Sample entitled ‘Morphogenesis’, is an exploration of the beauty of natures patterns, and in particular mushrooms, through the medium of photopolymer printing. The subjects are photographed with a macro lens and them manipulated in photoshop. A photopolymer plate is then produced and printed often using an ‘ a la poupee’
